Guizhou's First Large-Scale Independent Shared Energy Storage Power Station Successfully Connected to the Grid

The first large-scale independent shared energy storage power station in Guizhou Province - China Nuclear Ziyun (a subsidiary of CNNC) 200MW/400MWh energy storage power station (PhaseⅠ200MWh) successfully connected to the grid on July 19, symbolizing a step forward to transform the new power system.

The project is an energy storage demonstration project of Guizhou Province in 2023. As a turning point in the energy transformation of Guizhou, the project aligns with the vision of adjusting energy structure, and has made great contributions to Guzhou's peak load shifting for the winter of 2023.


The planned capacity of the 2-phase project is 200MW/400MWh, with Phase Ⅰ totaling 100MW/200MWh. It is reported that Phase Ⅱ is under construction and expected to be ready for grid connection in September.


The project incorporated Kehua S³ liquid cooling ESS solution, including liquid cooling energy storage battery system, PCS, EMS, BMS, 35kV booster transformer, power cables for equipment, communication cables, etc.

There are several benefits once the project is accomplished, including grid's peak shifting, frequency regulation, demand response, as well as more effective management of energy curtailment in local wind and solar power plants. The intermittency and volatility issues in renewable energy generation will be addressed to a great extent as well, enabling extensive and effective utilization of intermittent renewable energy that satisfies the demand for high-quality, secure and reliable power supply and efficient power consumption for economic and social development.
