Kehua Tech's 2.4MW Liquid-cooling Data Center Sets Sail for South America

XIAMEN, China, Nov. 27, 2023—Following the use of liquid-cooling containers in Thailand, Kehua Data Co., Ltd. (Kehua Tech)'s liquid-cooling technology and prefabricated integrated containers have once again joined forces, marking the pioneering application of a 2.4MW high-power liquid-cooling container data center. This advancement represents a significant step for Kehua Tech in promoting energy-efficient green computing power centers worldwide, as well as the first overseas journey for the liquid-cooling container data center under the Kehua Tech banner.

 

Liquid-cooling was officially introduced as a term in computer science and technology in 2018. It was during this year that Kehua Tech began its foray into liquid-cooling products. Five years later, as the capacity of air-cooled heat dissipation approaches its limit in the era of computing power, liquid cooling is poised to become mainstream due to its high heat dissipation efficiency and low noise advantages. Kehua Tech's liquid-cooling data center has already been utilized in projects such as the Jiageng Smart Computing Center at Xiamen University.

The Long Journey of Kehua Tech's Liquid-cooling Container Data Center

Weighing 12 tons and measuring 12 meters in length, this behemoth occupied an entire truck as it made its way from the Kehua Tech’s manufacture Base to a distant ocean freighter. Enduring high humidity, sea winds, and significant temperature differentials, it traveled along the warm currents of the South Equatorial Current, crossing the Pacific Ocean, traversing the Indian Ocean, and rounding the Cape of Good Hope... It withstood the transcontinental voyage, arriving on the western coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

 

The extended sea transport and the climate variations along the way placed extremely high demands on the reliability of Kehua Tech's liquid-cooling container data center. Fortunately, the Kehua Tech liquid-cooling container data center boasts strong resistance to salt spray and has obtained certification from maritime classification societies, meeting the requirements for whole-container maritime transport. Based on temperature parameters designed for various typical city climates worldwide (-20~45℃), thermal simulation verification was conducted under the most adverse conditions, demonstrating that the individual subsystems and the overall reliability of the liquid-cooling container meet the requirements across a wide range of parameters, showcasing its exceptional reliability.

Prefabricated Design Minimizes On-Site Construction Time—A Sunny Day Symbolizes a Good Start

Kehua Tech engineer Luo, the technical director of the project, specifically traveled to the project site in Uruguay to oversee the installation, debugging, and commissioning of the container data center, staying on-site for over 40 days. When he arrived, the container was positioned exactly as planned on the drawings, but due to issues with the foundation at the project site, the connection between the container and the air cooler was incompatible. However, where there's a will, there's a way. After extensive discussions with the domestic technical team and the client, an adjustment plan was formulated—prioritizing the container, the position of the air cooler was modified, and minor adjustments were made to the pipelines.

 

Moving the air cooler was a significant undertaking, and the annoying rainy days proved to be a major obstacle to the project's progress. Fortunately, there were not many rainy days, and with the majority being sunny, the project team exerted extra effort to push through. Finally, they completed the project just in time for the tail end of spring in the southern hemisphere.
